The eccentric personalities of the offbeat characters who make up Jerry's social circle contribute to the fun.
Longtime Companion (1989) Perhaps the first film to put a human face on the AIDS epidemic, Longtime Companion follows the lives of a small circle of friends from the first mention of the disease in the New York Times in 1981. First referred to as "Gay-Related-Immune-Disorder," we watch the effect of the disease as it devastates the lives of our protagonists. Jumping between Manhattan and Fire Island, vignettes carry us from the it-couldn't-happen-to-me mentality of the early days of the disease to the invasive effect it has had on all of our lives, today. The title of the film comes from the New York Times' refusal to acknowledge homosexual relationships in their obituary section during this period. Instead, survivors were referred to as "Longtime Companions" of the deceased.
Poor Little Rich Girl: The Barbara... (1987) This sprawling bio-pic is about Barbara Hutton, heiress to the immense Woolworth store fortune. She was married 8 times. Cary Grant was one of her husbands. He was the only one to renounce all claims to her fortune, yet the couple were called "Cash and Cary". Hutton's life took her to exotic locales like Denmark and Morocco. Nearly all of her husbands treated her poorly. A social butterfly, she was a bad mother to her only son whose death in a plane crash broke her heart.

The Ladies Club (1986) Joan Taylor is a Los Angeles policewoman whom gets gang-raped by a trio of burglars in her own house. When the three rapists get caught, go to trial, and get away with through a legal technicality, Joan takes up going to womens support meetings where she forms an alliance with a resident doctor Constance Lewis whose daughter was raped and killed by a sex offender, as well as a few other rape victims, in which Joan takes charge of the group in leading them out to abduct and surgically castrate various men whom have committed rape and got away with it. But each of the ladies personal problems soon get in the way when each one wants to hunt down the men whom raped them.
Spies Like Us (1985) Two totally incompetent applicants, Emmett Fitzhume and Austin Millbarge, are chosen from a CIA recruitment program. They are parachuted into Pakistan and eventually end up in Afghanistan, chased by the Russians, where they learn they are being used as decoys to draw out the Sovet defenses. Two real spies are sent in. Their mission is to Hijack a soviet Missile launcher, launch the Soviet missile and test the new US orbital defence laser. The missile is fired and while heading for an American City, the laser system misses it's target. The contingency plan for this scenario, as set out by the Pentagon Nuts who planned it from deep within a secret underground bunker, is to let the 3rd World War happen anyway.

A small resistance of rebels led by photojournalist Mike Donovan, Dr. Julie Parrish and mercenary Ham Tyler fight the Nazi-like reign. The aliens usually appear disguised as humans, and are led by Diana, their queen.
Crimes of Passion (1984) A sportswear designer leads a double life as a hooker named China Blue. One of her clients, a divorced man, decides he loves her and figures out who she is. He then begins wooing her, which she fights against since he was a client. Meanwhile a street preacher works the red light district trying to save souls. He decides to save China's immortal soul and begins hounding her. Eventually he gets out of hand and the man in love with her must try to help her.
